Local SEO – Our top 3 tips

Local search engine optimisation is more important than ever before. Even if you’re an online business serving the world, you will still benefit from the use of local SEO. Here are our three top local SEO tips to help grow your business locally.

Add Your Location to Your Keyword

Instead of just adding a keyword phrase, make it more location specific. You can have individual pages or blog posts for certain locations to make sure you cover all bases and attract your ideal clients. For example, instead of “wedding photographer,” use the local keyword “[city, state] wedding photographer” or “wedding photography in [city].”

People are going to search for businesses in their own location. Those businesses using the location keyword phrases will rank higher in search engine results pages.

Use Google My Business

It’s time to use Google – the company – to your advantage by using the local SEO tools on offer. Google My Business is just one of the factors used for ranking. Think about when you search for local cafes, restaurants, and even museums. They will come up with a Google listing, offering an area for reviews, opening hours, business address, and more.

Complete your listing in full. Add a good description that includes your location keyword phrases to help rank higher.

Encourage Your Customers to Leave Reviews

You need good reviews on your Google listing, Yelp and Facebook business page. The best way is to encourage your customers to leave honest feedback, even sending them an email with a polite request. These reviews will be visible by others searching for your business and they also tell the search engines that your business is worthwhile dealing with, in turn, ranking it higher in search results.

Take your time to boost your local SEO. More customers will get in touch with you because they want a business in the area – not halfway around the world!
